Today something great happened. I saw the results of having a team-based approach and how it creates true results. Of course, we always work as a team, but today I actually took a step back to notice it. After I left work I started reading an article on my couch and happened to run across this quote and I immediately knew it was meant to be and had to write a blog!
"Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."
When is the last time you took a step back to see how important teamwork is? Took a step back to thank those who help you on a daily basis whether that be at work or even in your personal relationships?
Unfortunately, we can forget to do so and become so absorbed in our daily work that we forget how important this word TEAM is.
Teams are what make us functional. Teams are what allow us to reach our goals. Teams are what makes us one. Think about the human body and how the legs and the arms and the head all are different, but together make one amazing thing. They all rely on the other to perform at 110%. Something as small as losing a toe can cause the whole body to become unbalanced. Many times we forgot how reliant we are on every part (sometimes it takes losing something to understand its full value).
So as the work day ended, and after a full day of meetings, I saw the fruits of our team having worked together. We created a great impression and made a great impact on someone's life. This could not have been done by me alone, not a chance (I have problems setting up calendar invites!!). It was the effort of all of us together, that made it possible.
So my question to you is this: what is your role on your team? How have you recognized your team members? If you haven't done this, take a step back to understand their roles and how you can work together. Most importantly, thank them for their role and support.
Once we recognize and understand the VALUE of having a TEAM that works together, we can start to strive for our true potential. And let me tell you... that is when we see amazing results and true growth happen.
As a close friend of mine always said: "Teamwork makes the Dreamwork!"
And we all love when dreams come true.
