Remember our first day of work and the excitement we had. How focused and into it we were. Where did that all go? How come work seems so dreary and monotonous now. Where did our drive go? What are we missing?!?
Passion…
The word we hear so much yet don’t really know the meaning of it DEEP down.
“Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind, body and soul into something as is possible.”
If you think about it, nothing great has ever been achieved without passion. Think of Lebron reaching so many finals, or McGregor who was a plumber and now makes millions. They didn’t achieve these things without it.
So why is this “passion” so important?
When he have passion we are more enthusiastic about something and more driven. This creates opportunity for us in the workplace and it creates a better “quality of life.” The problem we tend to have is that we get complacent and start to in a way “underachieve”. Think of how passionate we get about the next big game, or the next greatest movie coming out. Imagine if we had that same excitement and enthusiasm for our job everyday. If we had that we would be DYNAMITE all the time!
In an article I read according to The Board, over 50% of Americans were dissatisfied with their jobs in 2016. It stated that most Americans were only working for their current employer because they had to.
Are we in this percentage? Be honest with ourselves and if we are: FIGUREOUT what we need to do to get out of it!
I read a quote from Steve Jobs which stuck out to me: “Apple is not about making boxes for people to get their jobs done, although we do that well. Apple is about something more. Its core value is that we believe that people with passioncan change the world for the better.”
Are we part of those people in society making the world better?!
So let’s find that passion we had and use it to fuel our confidence, create excitement, and use it to effect others. Self reflect and find what really drives us and go after it full force.
Be passionate. Be contagious. Be your best.
Happy Days!
